http://hplc.chem.shu.edu/NEW/HPLC_Book/index.html BASIC LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY A virtual book on HPLC. The website is brimming with information suitable for HPLC beginners.

http://kerouac.pharm.uky.edu/ASRG/HPLC/hplcmytry.html
This is the HPLC page of the University of Kentucky's Analytical Spectroscopy Research Group. The website includes history, applications, theory-of operation, a fist of manufacturers, a bibliography and a troubleshooting guide. There's a lot of information concerning HPLC scattered around this fairly large site, together with some good images of HPLC equipment. The troubleshooting guide is fairly simplistic but useful for newcomers to the field.

http://www.dq.fct.unl.pt/QOF/hplcts1.html
"The HPLC Doctor." This is the HPLC troubleshooting site of the Department of Chemistry at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal. The site provides descriptions of common problems encountered and is supported by some basic pictures. The site was last updated in 1996 and has a rudimentary feel, but could be a good port of call for beginners.

http://www.raell.demon.co.uk/chem/CHIbook/Chiral.htm
This is an on-line guide to chiral HPLC. The site describes stereochemistry, principles, columns, mobile-phase additives, alternatives and provides a very good introduction to anyone interested in chiral separations by HPLC. It gives a comprehensive treatment of stereochemistry and the options available to achieve chiral separations. It contains definitions of the terms used in stereochemistry and images to illustrate geometries with impressive moving graphics of chiral selectors, such as cyclodextrins and crown ethers. The website is constructed in the form of a book and is recommended. A further website from the same author (Mark Earll) is http://www.raell.demon.co.uk/chem/fogp/logppka.html, which covers the determination of tog P and pK, data, and is also recommended.

http://ull.chemistry.uakron.edu/analytical/Chromatography/ An attractive slide show-type website covering basic chromatography. The slides load rapidly and have good graphics supported by text. The topics include an introduction, the separation process, plate theory and both qualitative and quantitative analysis. There is a further slide show on HPLC at http://ull.chemistry.uakron.edu/anatytical/LCwWm the website which discusses HPLC instrumentation and processes and includes some schematics of detectors. An associated site http://utl.chemistry.uakron.edu/analytical/GC covers the fundamentals of GC including the columns, detectors and general instrumentation employed. Overall it is a good beginner's site.

http://www.registech.com/chiral/applications/index.html This site features a listing of chiral separations from Regis Technologies Inc. (Morton Grove, Illinois, USA) with associated chromatograms.

http://www.shu.ac.uk/schools/sci/chem/tutorials Included are tutorials on molecular Spectroscopy and chromatography topics from Sheffield Hallam University's Department of Chemistry (Sheffield, UK). A clear and rapid loading description of general chromatography and GC is given.

http://gc.discussing.infoStart GC! website. This is a very comprehensive website dedicate* to GC. The "GC Reference" section contains information on the background theory and operation of GC. The information is well presented and is supported by diagrams and scanned-in images. There are listings of references, books and web links throughout the website. Included is an introduction to gas chromatography, a directory of articles, applications, sampling techniques and theory. There is also a fairly active e-mail discussion forum incorporated into the website that is also supported by a useful internal search engine. The website is maintained by Chang Gue Su who is a biotechnology graduate student at Yonsei University of Seoul, Korea.

http://www.mac-mod.com/cc/cc-toc.html This site contains practical advice on how to run HPLC, with a variety of different practical issues covered and supported by schematics and graphics. Some graphics files are large and take a moment to load. Overall it's a good site for perhaps the intermediate level trained analyst striving to solve HPLC problems. It contains a lot of sensible advice on how to keep an HPLC system and column in good working order.

http://www.chromatographyforum.com/ Chromatography Forum is a public discussion group where you can post questions, news, or messages of interest to chromatographers everywhere.

A part of this list is from LC&GC Europe, September 2000
